I'm not sure on that one. I guess it depends on why you take two MV's. I only took one prenantal and later I had to have it with iron. I'm a band patient too though so I know all my rules are a little different. My advise is: call your OB and your WLS surgeon and see what they say. Sorry I'm not more help.

Regardless though-   Congrats!!!

I ended up taking 2 flintstone gummies twice a day in place of my 2 multivitamins. I could not stomach the prenatals. So it really depends on what your OB/surgeon recommends. I also recommend keeping your other vitamins too. Iron is almost always a necessity for all RNY patients and it is highly recommended to take that during pregnancy. I use the Bariatric Advantage chewables.

My vite regimin before pg:
4 gummie vites/day
1 B12/wk
1 Vite D3/day
1 iron w/C /day

My vite regimin TTC & during PG:
4 gummie vites/day
1 prenatal/day
1 5mg Folic (very high dosage)
1 D3/day
1 iron w/C /day

I get enough B12 in my prenatal & folic.  My vite levels at all checks have been excellent.  But you need to check with your Bari surgeon and OB.  Every body is different - especially with RNY and malabsorption.

I never switched to prenatals - just continued taking my good multi twice per day. The only thing I changed when I found out I was pregnant is that I added a DHA supplement twice daily and stopped supplementing extra vitamin A.

That said, it also depends on what multi you're taking. I didn't switch because the multi I was normally already taking had more folate than the prenatal I compared it to, and I already take iron and calcium separately, so there was no need to switch to a prenatal.

My vitamins pretty much stayed the same I just switched one of the multi's to a good prenatal, one that's comparable to the multi as some of them have less than the multi I take. I added DHA and extra folic acid  (I'm required to take a lot because of a blood issue).
Talk to your Dr. as every Dr. is different in what they suggest!

Congrats on the pregnancy!!
